2-Day/2-Night Arches and Canyonland Photo Adventure

August 30 2019 @ 5:00 pm - September 1 2019 @ 11:00 am

Join American Photo Treks on a 2-day/2-night photo exclusion through Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. We will be capturing some of the most iconic scenes in the American west at sunrise, sunset and under the Milky Way.

Plus! APT is a certified Arches/Canyonlands National Park permit holder, so we will be lighting the arches at night using low level lighting techniques. Only permit holders are allowed light the arches at night.

Of course, American Photo Treks will provide photography classes and tips sheets for each location, on-site instruction, as well as, post-processing instruction classes to ensure your images come out great.

In addition to night photography basics, we will also be offering training in advanced night techniques including, stacking, tracking and low-level lighting.

Featured locations include:
Delicate Arch
Double Arch
The Windows
Balanced Rock
Mesa Arch
Green River Overlook
Grand View Point

Hiking: There will be some moderate hiking involved with this adventure. The longest hike is 3.2 miles round trip to Delicate Arch. Most other locations are under one mile round trip.

Transportation: APT will provide transportation in and around the parks. You can ride with us or follow in your car. Carpooling is encouraged. Also, we will be driving from Colorado Springs to Moab and have room for a few attendees to ride with us. Space is limited, first come-first served.

Cancellation Policy:
Due to the planning involved in a trip of this magnitude, we cannot accept late cancellations. A refund will be given, if cancellation is made 28 days prior to the trip. After that, no refunds will be given.  Note: If you choose to pay via Stripe, your refund will be less the 3% processing fee imposed by Stripe.

You will be required to download, sign, and return the Acknowledgement of Risk form required by the National Parks.

I am interested in attending the Arches photo trip. At what hotel is the group staying and does the price include the cost of the hotel?

    • Dave Soldano

The workshop price does not include lodging.

The APT instructors will be staying in our RV at Archview Campground in our travel trailer.

We recommend the Moab Valley Inn and Springhill Suites in Moab. They are
both reasonably priced (for the area) and are located fairly close to both parks.

Is there an itinerary of the day’s activities? I’ll most likely be there with family and I’m hoping I can do this in conjunction!

  3. Dave Soldano

    Hi Jaren,

Friday afternoon we will meet in Arches, move to the sunset shot, then on to some Milky Way locations. We will try and catch a shot nap before we shoot our sunrise shots in Arches. After sunrise and early morning shots at Arches, we will take a break during mid day.

We will then meet at 5pm on Saturday at Canyonlands and follow the same schedule. We should wrap up around 11:00am Sunday.

  4. Jolly Scoular

    Good Evening,
My camera buddy ( who has shot with you before) has signed up and asked me to join her. I am a school teacher and that is the end of the first week of school. I need to request the time off. If I reserve my spot can I get a refund for it if they say no? I would know by the end of May. Many thanks for offering such a fabulous trip!

    • KenC

Our cancellation policy above allows you to cancel 28 days prior to the workshop for a full refund (less the 3% processing fee if you pay via Stripe).

  5. Jane Loucaides

Hi there, will we have time with our laptops to be shown editing of the milky way etc? And is Dead Horse Point a possibility?

    • Dave Soldano

Yes, there will be post-processing instruction, so bring your laptop. Regarding Dead Horse Point, sorry that is not on the itinerary for this workshop. There just isn’t time. But we will be right by the park, so you can easily visit before or after.

  6. skiing2day

I am so excited for this workshop! Would I be able to have a ride from Co Springs?

    • Dave Soldano

We’re excited for the workshop too. The APT crew will be staying at Archview campground. If you are staying there, we do have one more seat in the truck. If you’re staying in Moab, it would be better to take a separate vehicle.

      • skiing2day

I think will go ahead and drive, as I plan on stopping at Aspen on the way home. Thanks! So looking forward to this!

  7. jeronsherbak

Looks like all of the tickets are gone. Will there be an opportunity for more attendees or a future event?

  8. Cherise Basye

I just wanted to confirm that you got my payment and I am scheduled to go on this workshop. Will there be information packets going out before the workshop? Thank you so much!!

  9. jk74655

I was considering signing up for the last spot in this workshop as I just came across this website this morning. I sent an email earlier today but haven’t been able to get in touch with anyone. Would we be given a location to meet up in Moab? I’d be coming from Denver. Thanks!

    • KenC

I’m sorry, but we’re actually full. The available ticket was a mistake.
